Tampa Bay Buccaneer Uncertainties: Dominik Still Shuffling Roster
They may as well build a revolving door out front at One Buccaneer Place, it would come in handy.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneer 53-man roster has become a chameleon, It changes daily, if not hourly. The Bucs made yet another move on Monday when they made guard Julian Vandervelde’s stay in Tampa a short one. They waived him and resigned defensive lineman Wallace Gilberry, which only reinforces the daily concern regarding the Buccaneer defensive line and its total lack of depth.
A former Buccaneer, Brian Price, got the bad news Monday as well when he was released by the Chicago Bears. The Bucs sent Price to Chicago for a seventh round draft pick. Now he’s there for the taking if they want him back. The Bears played musical chairs with Price, exchanging him for Amobi Okoye, a player the Bucs released on Friday.
It is evident from all the shuffling that the Bucs are fairly uncomfortable with the bottom of their roster.
In the meantime, the Buccaneer practice squad was beginning to take shape. Drake Dunsmore and Jake Cutrera, released on Friday, were brought back to the practice squad. The team also added former FSU wide receiver Bert Reed and a center/guard released by the New Orleans Saints, Brian Folkerts.
The Sioux Falls Argus Leader reported that wide receiver Dale Moss, released by Green Bay, would be signing with the Bucs and he did. The squad was finalized with the addition of offensive tackle Brad Sowell, who was waived on Friday. In addition to Sowell, the Bucs added linebacker J.K. Schaffer, quarterback Adam Weber and defensive end Markus White.
