Greg Schiano: “I Wanna Run Our Stuff”

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have completed day 11 of training camp and they’ll face the Miami Dolphins Friday night in the preseason opener.

What will we see? How much work will the starters get? Those are questions that the coaching staff is working on.

“We’ll have a plan for every player,” Schiano said at his post-practice press conference. “We’re stickin’ to the plan. “We’re stickin’ to the plan.” Schiano said he wants to avoid the “aw, just one more series” mentality that can crop up in these games that don’t count.

How much of the new offense will be on display? “There are certain things we won’t show,” Schiano said. “I wanna run our stuff. We are who we are. I wanna make sure we keep it simple enough though that we can evaluate our guys. Right now, I want to evaluate their physical ability to play against other people in a competitive arena.”

During Wednesday’s session, the second and third units got the majority of the reps.

Corner Aqib Talib didn’t participate, he was running lightly on one of the adjacent practice fields. Safety Mark Barron is still being limited due to his injured toe but he is expected to see action Friday night. Talib is a different story. Don’t be surprised if he sits this one out.
