Buccaneer Inspiration Eric LeGrand Eloquent At ESPY Awards
Tampa Bay Buccaneer Eric LeGrand continues to be a national inspiration and he was that and more Wednesday night at the ESPN ESPY Awards.
LeGrand accepted the Jimmy V award for perserverance.His speech was simply eloquent
LeGrand received a huge standing ovation then recounted the moment on the football field when he was paralyzed. “Is this the end of my life right here?” LeGrand told the audience, recalling the fear that overcame him when he realized he couldn’t move. “I started to pray like Coach Schiano told me to,” he said, remembering how Schiano bent over him and told him to pray.
Like the late Jim Valvano implored in his famous speech, LeGrand said he “will never give up.” LeGrand thanked numerous people in his speech. He left the audience will this message:
“Don’t take anything for granted. Be the best person you can be.”
He concluded with the promise: “I will rise from this chair.”
Simply awesome.
